    A letter, a prediction, a promise. It never leaves your device unencrypted.

    Seal

    Your device locks it to a future drand round. The key for that round does not exist yet — anywhere.

    It opens

    On the date, the drand network — run by an independent group of organizations — publishes that round's key. Anyone with the link can open it.

Questions

Can Ripenote open my letter early?
No. We never have your letter, and the key for your date doesn't exist yet. It is published by the drand network at that moment, and not before.
Where is my letter stored?
Nowhere on our side. The sealed letter lives inside the link, the QR card, the printed keepsake, or the .seal file you keep. Browsers never send the part of the link after # to any server.
What if I lose the link?
Then the letter is gone. We can't recover it because we never had it. Keep the link, download the card, or save the .seal file — ideally two of them.
Is it unbreakable?
No honest system is. It uses timelock encryption on drand, using the open tlock standard. If a majority of drand's independent operators colluded they could open capsules early, and the scheme isn't quantum-resistant. If the network stopped for good, capsules for later dates couldn't be opened. Read the limits.
What does a receipt prove?
When you post a sealed card on X, the post's timestamp proves when you sealed it. It proves when — not who wrote it, and not that you didn't also post other predictions and delete them.
Do I need an account?
No. There are no accounts. Lifetime is a one-time payment that gives you a license key; paste it on up to 3 devices.
Is there a subscription?
No. Lifetime and the occasion packs are one-time payments. There are no ads, no tracking pixels, and we never sell data.
Can you email it to them on the date?
No. We don't store the letter or an address, so we can't send anything later. Send the link now with Email or WhatsApp — they still can't open it early — and add a calendar reminder.
I lost the link.
We can't recover it. Check the email or message you sent, the calendar event, the card image, or the .seal file.
I forgot the passphrase.
Nobody can open it, including us. That's what the passphrase is for.
Can I open it early if it's an emergency?
No one can, including us. The key for that date does not exist yet.
Does it work in the X app?
Yes, you can read it there. Open the link in your browser to download or print.
What happens to photos' location data?
It's removed on your device before the photo is sealed. We never receive the photo.
Where's my license key?
In the purchase email from Dodo Payments. Paste it on the unlock page.
Does opening cost anything?
Never. Opening capsules is free for everyone, forever — whether or not the writer paid, and whether or not Ripenote still exists.
